James fought hard on his way through the preliminary bouts to win a place on the mats for the finals were he had to narrowly concede to Scotland’s top fighter.

For over two decades James, who started competing internationally as a child, has dominated the tatami mats in karate competitions all over the globe, claiming a multitude of titles here, in Britain, Europe and the World. Last year he traveled to Japan to take part in the World Wado Cup where he won a silver men in the Senior Male competition. Along with his father Oliver, James is coaching the next generation of fighters, passing on the skills which have made him ‘Master of the Mats’ during his competition career.
