The popular 2014 Pure Running Laganside 10K Road Race was officially launched yesterday. The event will be held on Sunday 7th September at Ormeau Park.
The race is promoted by North Belfast Harriers and all finishers will receive a bespoke hand designed medal featuring scenes from the City of Belfast.
Entries are going to be capped at 1,000 and those who enter before July 31will have their names printed on their numbers.
The Laganside 10K is the perfect warm up race for those considering running in the September half marathons and the flat course always produces a host of personal bests.
Commenting on this year’s event Race Director Matt Shields said “there is something for everyone at the Laganside 10K - including those trying out the distance for the first time, experienced runners looking for a personal best, works teams, charity runners and kids. The race will be a great day out and a real celebration of running in the City of Belfast.”
This year the race doubles as the Northern Ireland and Ulster 10K Championships with individual and team titles up for grabs. Last year Stephen Scullion won the Mens race from Brendan Teer with Teresa McGloin winning the Ladies.
Apart from the Club competition the race will feature the new BLT9 Corporate Cup for work place teams.
Youngsters can take part in the Rossi’s 1 Mile Childrens Fun Run for boys and girls from 6-15 years old. This event is on a safe, marshalled and flat route within Ormeau Park.
This year’s event is sponsored by Pure Running, BLT9 and Rossis. The official fund raising partner is Northern Ireland Hospice.
Entries for both the 10K and 1 Mile events can be made at www.laganside10k.com.
