Brian Magee is opening a brand new sports gym in Belfast but the former WBA World champion is not hanging up the gloves just yet.

Southpaw Magee - who lost in his last outing to Mikkel Kessler - has his hands full at the minute getting his new gym up and running but he says he will be back in action soon.

“I will be back in the ring before the summer and I have been offered a few 12 round fights but I would rather have a six or eight rounder to get me back into it.

“I still have a few fights left in me, but they have to be fights that are right for me at this stage of my career,” he added.

And what about the challenge of opening his state of the art Magee Health & Fitness Gym in Blackstaff Road in Belfast this month?

“Having competed at the very highest level of my sport, I wanted to share my enthusiasm as well as my skills and experience with others.

“While not everyone will be up there with the medal winners, everyone can aspire to be fit and healthy and I can help them to achieve those goals.

“Some people might be surprised at my investing in a major new business in the current difficult economic climate, but I believe you have to invest in success,” he added.

In next week’s paper we will be giving away passes and kit for Magee’s new gym.
