Martin Lindsay looked cool, calm and collected as he prepares to face Lee Selby at the Odyssey on Saturday night.

The Belfast featherweight faces Selby for the Welshman’s British and Commonwealth titles - but Lindsay took time-out on Wednesday to look round Rooney’s Gym in the centre of the Belfast.

The brand new gym - which is being refurbished - will open in the coming weeks - and it could be Lindsay’s new training base.

And the ‘Mac Man’ is looking forward to getting his hands back on the British title.

“Everything has gone great. I have trained very hard for this fight and this week I am just ticking over.

“My weight is spot-on and I cannot wait to get started on Saturday night.

“Selby is a good fighter but I believe if I perform to my best I will win the fight.

“I have to win on Saturday night because I know that if I lose it will be a long way back for me.

“I fought the wrong fight when I lost my British title to John Simpson and I will not make that mistake again,” he added.

And Lindsay is glad the fight is taking place in his home city.

“It is great to fighting in Belfast and the tickets have been flying out.

“The crowd always get behind me and I really appreciate that. It is a fantastic bill and the fans are turning out in their numbers to support it

“I have had a look at Selby and we have a spotted a few things, but the main thing is I want my British title back, it’s as simple as that,” he added.

And Rooney’s Gym owner John Rooney Jnr says he hopes his venture will bring something new to Belfast.

“We will be running five boxercise classes a day at the gym when it opens and we are also opening our doors to professional boxers to come here and train during the day for free.

“I have the same kind of gym in London and it is going very well, and I thought this kind of gym would go well in Belfast.

“There are classes and we also have all the equipment a normal gym would have.

“We are situated right in the middle of the city and we will be open very soon.
