Michael McKillop added another title to his growing collection when he completed the middle distance double at the European IPC Athletics Championships in Swansea.
The St Malachy’s athlete already champion over 800 metres went straight to the front of the 1500 as the gun was fired.
He produced laps of 74 and 70 seconds before opening out on the third circuit with 63 to cross the line on his own in 4:16.73.
Louis Radius, of France, was a distant second with Dean Miller of Team GB third.
Michael is now double champion at Paralympic, World and European level.
Meanwhile, Sam Herron and Diane Wilson came out on top of the Slieve Bearnagh Mountain Race which included the eighth round of the NIMRA Championship.
The event which covered a varied course over the three peaks of Meelbeg, Bearnagh and Meelmore was expected to be hotly contested and did not disappoint.
From the start three men moved away from the rest with Herron, from Mourne Runners, William McKee and David Steele quickly on their own.
Herron was looking the most aggressive and made the decisive break on the climb up Bearnagh eventually coming home 42 seconds before McKee who just edged out Steele to clinch runner up spot.
Diane Wilson also led from the gun and in spite of a fall at one stage fought off the determined challenge of Catherine O’Connor. Anne Sandford came third.
