Ards and Elks in double bill

After the disappointment of seeing their Irish Senior Cup tie fall victim to the weather at the weekend Ards and the Ulster Elks will be getting to know each other quite well over the next two Saturdays.

As fate would have it the teams meet in the Premier League at Jordanstown and then, seven days later, renew their rivalry in the rearranged cup game at Ards Leisure Centre.

The winners of that game have a daunting journey to Cork in the next round as they will face UCC at the Munster venue.

Pegasus have an even more difficult tie to look forward to on Saturday week as they must play cup holders UCD.

It was the Dublin students that dismissed Pegasus from both the Irish Hockey League and the cup last season.

But right now Pegasus will be focussing on an equally big and equally difficult game against arch rivals Ballymoney on Saturday.

‘Money are the only team to have broken Pegasus monopoly on the league trophy in the last 15 years having won the title in 2010.

This weekend also sees the semi-finals of the inaugural Ulster Senior Cup with a double bill at Mossley.

First up in the ‘Super Sunday’ extravaganza is the meeting of Lisnagarvey and Ballyclare and that is followed by the game between Harlequins and Omagh.
