Craigavon Cyclones Wheelchair Basketball Club will now run monthly in Craigavon Leisure Centre starting in June!

Over 50 people from across the Borough attended the taster event earlier in the year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience which included a fun practical session led by Jason Kennedy from Knights and NI Wheelchair Basketball Club based in Antrim. There was also an informal chat about the background of the sport and how they can progress their interest through the club.

The Craigavon Cyclones is the first club of its kind in this area and is only the fourth within Northern Ireland. Spearheaded by Colleen Murray, Disability Sports NI’s Inclusive Sports and Leisure Officer, she is delighted with the interest.

“The taster day was an opportunity for people with a disability to try out a new sport and we are thrilled it has been so successful,” commented Colleen.

“Craigavon Cyclones will ensure accessibility to this exciting sport for people in the area and will help support the ever increasing pathways for disability sports in Northern Ireland. We would like to welcome anyone interested in taking part to get in touch!

The first meet will be on Sunday June 2 from 3pm to 4.30pm and is open to everyday

The cost is £3 per person and friends and family are welcome to come along to and watch the action.
