English diving’s poster boy Tom Daley felt the pressure to deliver Commonwealth Games gold after witnessing a brilliant team performance in Edinburgh.
Daley's gold came in the final event, the men's 10-metres platform, after Jack Laugher had won two gold medals - the second in combination with Chris Mears - and Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree had also finished first.
"It's been great these Commonwealth Games," Daley, who has two previous Commonwealth golds, said.
"It does add a little bit more pressure because they've all been winning gold medals and you think 'okay, I better step up and get a gold medal'.
"The whole morale within the team - everybody was so happy with everyone's performances and it's been a really good week."
There were three silver medals as Daley and James Denny claimed a dramatic second in the men's synchronised 10m platform, with Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch second in the corresponding women's event and Laugher second in the men's three-metres springboard.
Nick Robinson-Baker and Freddie Woodward took bronze behind Laugher and Mears in the synchronised three-metres springboard, while Oliver Dingley was third in the individual event and Hannah Starling took bronze in the corresponding women's event.
Daley hopes English - and British - diving can continue to go from strength to strength.
"British diving is at its strongest that it's ever been," Daley said.
"We've topped the diving medal table at the Commonwealth Games and I don't think that's ever happened before. The whole team have done amazingly well.
"There's a lot more to come from British diving. This is just the beginning.
"Hopefully London 2012 and Glasgow 2014's legacy is going to help more divers come through.
"Hopefully we'll be the unstoppable nation in Australia 2018."
Daley was happy with his own performances ahead of this month's European Championships in Berlin.
"It's a good stepping stone," he said.
"For me it's about making sure I work as hard as I can. There's a lot more I can improve on.
"There's some dives in there that could improve. I've got to get more consistent.
"I'm really excited about the Europeans. It's a long season. I'm going to have a few days' off now, just to be at home.
"I just want to be in one place for a little bit now."
