The sixth Dromore 10K Road Race and 5K Run/Walk in County Tyrone which will be held on Saturday, June 28 will have a new and improved course.

The 10K route will have less hills to battle and will take in a new section of the town while still running alongside the picturesque ‘riverside walk’ before finishing in the centre.

The 5K will have the same course but in the reverse direction.

Bernard Maguire from main sponsors McDermott’s Pharmacy said: “I relish another opportunity to be the main sponsor of the Dromore 10K and 5K Road Race which is now into our fourth year to be involved.

“We are thankful for all the local support which people lend to the annual event. Both returning and new participants are always welcome.”

Stephen Duncan from Omagh was present at the launch of the meeting.

The Northern Ireland and Ulster Masters champion won the 10K in 2010, 11 and 12 and is expected to strike gold again in a new course record.

Last year’s winner Paul Barbour, also Omagh, and Enniskillen’s Conan McCaughey are also expected to challenge for medals.

In the ladies Julie Butler from Omagh has a great record and will be fancied along with Pauline McGurren of Sperrin and Finn Valley’s Angela Speight.

Sisters Sara and Toni Moore from Omagh can be the athletes to watch in the 5K with James Speight of Finn Valley heading the men.
