Gerard McGleave is back on the scent of the NIBA singles championship!
The Divis player has already picked up the trophy on two occasions – 2009 and 2012 – and has now forged his way into the last 16 of the current campaign.
McGleave has certainly laid down a marker of his intentions as he dumped out current NIBA and Irish singles title holder, Martin McHugh, in the second round.
He will hope to take his challenge a step further when he faces Dromore’s Davy Clinghan at Falls Park on Thursday night.
Two former winners will clash in an another mouth-watering tie, with international duo, Noel Graham, of Lisnagarvey, going head to head with Bangor’s Graham McKee.
Meanwhile, Bangor put their NIBA Senior Cup on the line on Wednesday night when they make the journey to Whitehead for what is undoubtedly the standout quarter final tie.
The Private Greens League Senior Cup has reached the same stage, with holders Belmont – they are on the prowl for a hat-trick of cup successes – travelling across town to face Falls at Fruithill Park.
