Limavady cracked open the champagne at Ballymoney Bowls Club on Saturday after getting their hands on the IBA Junior Cup for the first time!

They roared to an impressive 99-70 victory over Provincial neighbours Coleraine, which sparked scenes of great jubilation among the Limavady team and supporters.

“We are absolutely thrilled,” beamed a delighted Limavady president Jim Barr.

“It’s a proud day for the club and everyone associated with it.

“We haven’t had all that much to celebrate in recent seasons, so we’ll make the most of this. Hopefully, it’s the start of things to come.

“We had some great performances out there the boys all deserve a pat on the back.”

Chris Wylie, Sam Corscadden and Richard Service turned in stunning displays, skipping their rinks to respective wins over Willie Calvin (24-17), Jackie Logan (27-16) and Owen Steele (26-13).

In fact, Wylie took out an opponent’s bowl on the 18th end to pick up a count of seven, which really put the fizz into the Limavady bubbly.

Corscadden had two outstanding performers in front of him in the shape of Leigh Harrison and former Provincial singles winner Adrian Barr, son of the president.

It was an extra sweet occasion for Adrian due to the fact that he missed out on his team’s semi final win as he was in Galway with his son Ross, who was representing the Northern Ireland Under-12 team.

Sam McArthur produced Coleraine’s only rink win, defeating Wilfie Moore.

The former Limavady man turned in a sensational revival to win 24-20 after trailing 14-0 at one stage!
