Lisnagarvey strolled into the finals of the Anderson Cup notching up 17 goals on Friday night to top the group.
Mossley just couldn’t match Garvey’s goal tally and they will now play in the Plate final finishing the group in the the runners up slot.
Mossley opened the night’s proceedings with a 2-2 draw against Ulster Champions Lisnagarvey. Ross McIvor and Joel Taggart were on target for the hosts, with Jason Lynch and Daniel Buser for Garvey.
Mossley were straight back at it with a game against Bangor, a double strike from Neal Galssey and and a goal from Colin McLean secured a comfortable victory for the Glade side.
Bangor were hoping to bounce back from their defeat in the derby match against North Down, but two goals from Andy Forrest secured the Comber side’s first victory of the evening.
But North Down were soon brought back to earth as Lisnagarvey smashed five goals past them in their next game. Jason Lynch was the top scorer for the Blues with a brace. Sean Murray, Buser and Daniel Nelson were also on target for Garvey.
The action moves to Cookstown and Queen’s on Saturday.
Anderson cup holders, Cookstown, will host Raphoe, South Antrim and Raphoe. Banbridge, Kilkeel and Premiership new boys all travel to Queen’s.
Garvey left their best performance of the night until their last game when they thumped Bangor 10-1, which saw Jason Lynch claim the first hat-trick of the tournament this season.
Even with a 5-0 win against North Down in the final game Mossley could only finish in the runner’s up slot.
Ireland play New Zealand at 8.00am this morning in the their opening game in the Champions Challenge in Malaysia.
