Derry remain on course for a spot in the Allianz Football League semi-finals after Mark Lynch inspired them to victory over a lack-lustre Dublin at Celtic Park.

The Oak Leaf captain scored 1-8 in a man of the match display as Brian McIver’s men made the All-Ireland champions look decidedly ordinary.

Lynch’s 32nd minute goal helped last year’s Division 2 champions to a 1-10 to 0-9 lead at the break and they continued to boss proceedings in the second half.

Tyrone put last week’s defeat at the hands of Kerry behind them with a confident victory over Westmeath.

The Red Hands led by the minimum margin at the break but at the beginning of the second half though they hit a number of early points and they never looked back on a day when they registered 2-18 from play.

In Division Two, Down edged out Donegal in an all-Ulster clash in Newry.

The result leaves Ulster triumverate Donegal, Monaghan and Down all tied at the top of the table on seven points with two rounds of games to go.

Div 1: Derry 1-16 Dublin 0-13; Tyrone 2-23 Westmeath 1-12
