Mark McKinstry and Gladys Ganiel will the ones to beat at The Bridges 10 Miles Race

Mark McKinstry and Gladys Ganiel start favourites for Thursday night’s Jude Gallagher Memorial Round The Bridges 10 Miles Race in Limavady.

McKinstry comes to the event fresh from an impressive victory in the Ards Half Marathon which included the Northern Ireland Championship. He set a personal best over 10K at Dunshaughlin and is a very determined athlete.

Last year’s winner Gary Slevin, Scott Rankin, Danny Mooney and John Black are other possibilities in the race which is expected to attract 500 competitors.

Gladys Ganiel still with a hope of Rio selection if Fionnuala McCormack opts for the 10,000.

She will use this 10 miler as preparation for the European Half Marathon.

Catherine Whoriskey the 5,000 and 10,000 champion, Alison Rankin, Gillian Logan and Martina McMullan can challenge.

There is a generous prize list in all groups including t-shirts for the first 400 entries and medals for all finishers. Registration is at Limavady United Football Club from 6 o’clock with the action starting at 7.30.
