FFX Yamaha rider Andy Reid is aiming to consolidate his lead at the top of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Champion this weekend at Knockhill in Scotland.
The Jordanstown prospect took a strong runner-up finish in the previous round at Snetterton but Reid is fired up to go one better on Sunday.
“Every time I go out on the bike and race I want to win. At Snetterton that second place gave me a cushion in the standings and that meant some big points in the bag, which we need to keep adding to so we can extend our lead,” said Reid, who leads the series by 22 points on the R6 from James Lodge.
“Saying that though every time you finish second and don’t win the race it makes you more motivated to go out and win the next one. I am looking forward to getting on track and getting my elbows out that’s for sure.”
Meanwhile, World Superbike star Eugene Laverty is among the guests at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
The Voltcom Crescent Suzuki rider will take part in the event’s famous hillclimb along with team-mate Alex Lowes on special race-replica GSX-R1000s.
“This is my fifth consecutive year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, said Laverty. “It’s a fantastic event with all the old cars, bikes and heroes of mine from the past so I feel like a fan for the weekend and I always enjoy my visit.
“It’s nice to be able to meet the fans and support Rossetts too this year in return for all their support for us so far this season and I’m looking forward to the hillclimb.”
