The organisers of this year’s Classic TT Festival are pulling out all the stops in an effort to exhibit the most extensive collection of Ulster road racing legend Joey Dunlop’s machines ever assembled.

The theme for the event this year, held for the first time to universal acclaim in 2013, is based on the 26-time TT winner’s stellar career, with a number of special activities planned in his honour.

To that end, the Island of Man’s Department of Economic Development has launched an appeal urging owners of machinery previously raced by Dunlop to come forward.

Trevor Hussey, the Department’s Head of Motorsport, said: “We have several initiatives planned for this year’s Classic TT to tie into our Joey Dunlop theme and one of the most significant will be the creation of a one-off display in the paddock of bikes that Joey raced throughout his career.

“We have been working with the Dunlop family and have already been able to source a number of iconic machines, but we want to create something special that has never been seen before. We are calling for anyone who is lucky enough to now own one of Joey’s race bikes to make contact with us to see if their machines can be included.”

The Classic TT is part of the Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling, which incorporates the Manx Grand Prix and runs from August 16-31.
