Alex Lowes among guests at Adelaide Motorcycle Festival

New Samsung Honda British Superbike signing Alex Lowes will be among the special guests at next month’s Adelaide Motorcycle Festival in Belfast.

Promoted by Billy Nutt, the event will take place over three days at the King’s Hall Pavilion, commencing on Friday, February 8.

Lincoln rider Lowes, whose brother Sam is a major contender in the World Supersport Championship, finished as the top Honda rider in the BSB series last season in fourth position overall for the WFR team.

He won both races at Silverstone and marked himself out as a rising prospect, moving to the official Honda BSB outfit for 2013 along with returning triple champion Ryuichi Kiyonari as the pair replaced Jon Kirkham and Northern Ireland’s Michael Laverty, who will compete in the MotoGP CRT class for Paul Bird Motorsport this year.

Lowes is determined to grasp the opportunity in BSB with both hands and speaking after his deal was confirmed, the 22-year-old acknowledged he had been granted his ‘best chance’ to take his career to the next level.

“I think I surprised a lot of people last year, but I knew that we were capable and it wasn’t more than I expected,” said Lowes.

“This is my best chance - now that I’ve had a couple of seasons and learnt the Honda, I just need to come out and be consistent right from the start of the season.”

Lowes will attend the annual motorcycle festival in Belfast on the Saturday and Sunday.

Ulster road racing duo Michael and William Dunlop have also committed to the event.

William will ride for Shaun Muir’s Milwaukee Yamaha team in the British Supersport Championship this season plus the international road races, while Michael joins John McGuinness and Michael Rutter in the Honda TT Legends livery to contest the Superbike races at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.
