Former Honda and Norton team manager Barry Symmons has confirmed the annual Pro Test at Cartagena in Spain will go ahead next year from March 6-9.
Symmons has organised the pre-season shakedown for the past 16 years and already has received confirmation from Northern Ireland team Mar-Train Racing and Alastair Seeley, plus Irish Superbike champion David Haire.
Seeley is preparing for a renewed bid to win the British Supersport title in 2014 after narrowly missing out to Scottish rider Stuart Easton this year.
Symmons said: “With the BSB decision to allow overseas testing again during March the Pro Test will again be the number one choice for pre-season testing.
“The Irish riders have always supported this test as four days’ testing in reasonable weather is worth four weeks of running on cold tyres on cold tracks, which isn’t the best way of starting the professional year. It’s not just the bikes that need tuning up – the riders are pretty rusty too after the winter break.”
