Clogher’s Keith Farmer has secured a return to the MCE British Superbike Championship this year after signing for Liverpool outfit PR Kawasaki.

The talented Ulster rider, who won the National Superstock 600cc and 1000cc titles in consecutive seasons before a difficult BSB debut in 2013 with Paul Bird’s Kawasaki team, is determined to bounce back and show his true potential in the elite class this year.

After a promising start last season, Farmer’s confidence took a battering following a series of spills on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki.

The 26-year-old’s misery was compounded when he contracted a virus before being replaced in the team by Japanese World Superbike legend Noriyuki Haga for the final three Showdown rounds of the championship, spelling the end of his collaboration with team owner Bird.

However, following a spell of uncertainty, Farmer has a spring in his step once again and is full of enthusiasm for the season ahead.

“It is really great for me to be back in the Superbike Championship this year and also to ride a Kawasaki again as I have already had some previous experience already to build on,” he said.

“I want to be aiming for the top ten and I intend to chip away and give the team some strong results throughout the year.”

The opening BSB round takes place at Brands Hatch from April 18-21.
