The Kilkenny driver had intended to drive a Citroen WRC on the three day event, but due to commitments with the factory Citroen team he has been forced to pass this time.

However the organisers have assembled a top class entry for an event which is rated by many as the best on the Irish rallying calendar.

Garry Jennings from Kesh is the number one seed and he will drive his Subaru WRC, Declan Boyle will start at two with his Ford Fiesta WRC and Donagh Kelly will start at three in his Ford Focus WRC.

Making a welcome return to Donegal is multi rally champion Eugene Donnelly in his Mini WRC.

The rally is a round of the Clonakilty Black Pudding Rally Championship and under new regulations this season, World Rally cars are not eligible for the overall championship results.

That will be decided from the new R5 class and the leading contender is Fermanagh's Alastair Fisher who will use a Ford Fiesta R5.
