Eoghan Rua meet Ballinascreen

After a lay-off EoghanRua's senior footballers will be back in action this Sunday (August 31), throw-in 6.00pm, with a tough home league game against leaders Ballinascreen.

When these sides met in the corresponding league fixture earlier in the season Ballinascreen had a comfortable win, indeed the same was the case when they met in the round-robin stage of the senior championship, the south Derry side winning comfortably.

The 'Screen have been the form side in Division 2 to date, they are unbeaten in 10 games, winning seven and drawing three. Indeed they have also progressed to the semi-finals of the senior championship where they will meet Slaughtneil, so clearly they are in a good run of form.

Coleraine lost their last league outing, albeit narrowly, to Glen at home but they are still in a solid mid-table position. However such is the tight nature of this division that a couple of wins could propel Coleraine into promotion play-off contention while a couple of losses would put them down into potential relegation dogfight territory.

Either way Sunday's game is of huge importance for both clubs, Ballinascreen will want the win to maintain their leadership of the division and their hopes of a quick return to the top league while Eoghan Rua need to get back to winning ways to stay clear of the relegation zone.

Ballinascreen's good recent form will see them start as firm favourites but home advantage will see this Coleraine side make them fight for every inch. The other games in Division 2 this weekend are : Craigbane v Glen; Kilrea v Magherafelt and Lavey v Swatragh.
