Ireland book Twenty20 Final berth
IRELAND have secured their place in next year's Twenty20 World Cup finals in England following a four-wicket win against Kenya at Stormont on Monday.
The top two seeded teams met in the first semi-final after Kenya had struggled to find their form in the opening pool game against The Netherlands on Saturday.
Kenya batted first and when the Irish had them all out for 67 after 17.2 overs, it should have really been a matter of course for the host country to progess through as No 1 seeds.
But, not for the first time, they struggled and going into the last over were still a run short.
William Porterfield and Gary Wilson both went for ducks, but Niall O'Brien and Andre Botha steadied the ship followed by vital contributions from Kevin O'Brien and Trent Johnston ensured the Irish went on to secure their place in Tuesday's final against either Scotland or the Netherlands.
Botha picked up yet another man of the match award.
