Three from four for Derry

Derry chalked up their third win from four outings in the National Football league Division 1 with a comfortable 1-16 to 0-8 victory over a disappointing Kildare side under lights at Celtic Park last Saturday evening.

This win was as comprehensive as the scoreline suggests, Derry racing into a 1- 4 to nil lead by the 12th minute, Mark Lynch getting the goal just two minutes in.

It took Kildare 15 minutes to register their first point, they scored just three more in that first half, John Doyle their main scorer from frees. Meanwhile with Paddy Bradley again firing on all cylinders he hit four points while Conleth Gilligan weighed in with two, Derry piled on the scores to lead 1-10 to 0-4 at the break.

Kildare opened the second half with three quick points but with Barry McGoldrick very impressive around the half forward line his promptings got Derry back onto the scoring track as Paddy Bradley pointed twice more, one from a free following good work by Enda Muldoon.

Doyle again pointed from free but the home side finished strongly, McGoldrick drawing a couple of frees following surging runs, he tapped over one while Paddy Bradley completed the rout for an impressive eleven poi
