Rory McIlroy remains outside the top 60 in the Race to Dubai after finishing 10 shots behind winner Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at the BMW Masters in Shanghai.
McIlroy finished on one under par after carding a final round of 73.
He is scheduled to play this week’s WGC-HSBC Champions, but he could opt to add the Turkish Airlines Open if he remains outside the top 60.
With the guaranteed payday in Shanghai, he should be able to leapfrop No. 60 Gareth Mulroy, whom he trails by only €3,586.
Rory will be in action today, playing an exhibition match against world number one, Tiger Woods at Mission Hills on the tropical Hainan Island.
Speaking on his arrival at Mission Hills, Rory said, “I played here with GMAC [in the World Cup] and it was good.
“It’s a good golf course, a good layout and obviously we had a great chance to win here a couple of years ago.
“It’s nice to be back and obviously every time we come we get looked after really well.”
The Match at Mission Hills will be Tiger Woods’ third trip to Mission Hills.
“The Match at Mission Hills is geared to be a great contest with the great setting in Haikou, and I’m excited about playing there for the first time,” said Woods.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Blackstone, so it looks like a great location for the re-match with Rory, whom I know has played there before in the World Cup.
“I’ve played at Mission Hills on the mainland, but this will be my first time playing at their Haikou’s resort and I’m looking forward to visiting Hainan Island for the first time.”
