ROWING: Coleraine men progress
Coleraine rowers Alan Campbell, Richard Chambers and Richard Archibald all progressed from their opening heats at the World Cup regatta in Lucerne.
Campbell was the fastest qualifier in the opening heats of the single scull while Chambers and Archibald made the semi-finals in the lightweight fours.
Chambers, who like Campbell rows for GB, helped his boat win the fours heat.
Archibald and his Irish team-mates finished an encouraging close second behind Munich regatta winners China.
The Irish quartet finished in 6:02.67 which left him behind the Chinese (6.01.29).
Chambers and his British team-mates won their qualifier in 6:03.25 which left them comfortably ahead of the Dutch.
Olympic Games medal hopeful Campbell won his heat in a time of 6:53.60.
All three men will be involved in semi-final action on Saturday.
Chambers won world championship gold in his British boat last year while former world championship silver medallist Archibald competes for Ireland.
Archibald and his Irish team-mates will be hoping to ensure their Olympic Games place at the qualification regatta in Poznan next month.
Like his British team-mate Campbell, Chambers has already secured qualification for Beijing.
Campbell claimed gold in the opening World Cup regatta of the season in Munich earlier this month.
Chambers and his Great Britain crew finished second to China in the lightweight fours final in Munich where the Irish boat took fifth.
