D-Day for Ballynahinch as they look to avoid drop

Ballynahinch must beat Garryowen with a bonus point, hope Galwegians get nothing at Cork Con and turn around a 44 points difference if they want to stay in the top flight of the All Ireland League.

Hinch threw themselves a life line with a win at UCD last time out but coach Derek Sufern admits they face an uphill task at Ballymacarn Park.

"We were well worth our win at UCD and that put us in a position where we now really want to finish the season off well," said Suffern.

"Avoiding the straight drop is a slim hope so we have to take to first and foremost look after our own house and then wait and see.

"We have to take five points and keep their (Garryowen's) total down." The only plus I suppose is that Con are going after a home semi-final and need to get five so at least they have a lot to play for."

Hinch have Johnny Murphy, Lorcan Dow, Connor Joyce and Sam Windsor available. Ballymena warm up for their promotion playoff game with an Ulster derby at Belfast Harlequins in what is expected to be coach Adam Larkin's last game in charge of the Deramore club.

Ballymena coach Andy Graham wants a morale boosting win before facing Trinity.

“It’s about building confidence and about how we want to play, we were disappointed against Dolphin and didn’t play how we wanted to,” said Graham
