Ulster beat Irish rivals Leinster in a dazzling display at the Kingspan Stadium to put themselves in pole position to clinch a top four position in the Pro12

Ulster out half Paddy Jackson opened the scoring on 11 minutes with a penalty after Andrew Trimble was blocked jumping for the ball by Leinster scrum half Luke McGrath.

Referee George Clancy awarded Ulster a penalty try on 18 minutes after scrum half Ruan Pienaar made a like break, the South African pivot chipped on in the 22 but was body checked by Rob Kearney as he chased his own kick, the Leinster full back was sin binned and Jackson added the conversion.

Leinster go their first point on 27 minutes when Sexton landed a penalty after Ulster went of their feet at the ruck.

Sexton landed his second penalty on 36 minutes to cut Ulster’s half time lead to four points.

Leinster received a second yellow card on 54 minutes when Luke Fitzgerald was guilty of tackling Rory Scholes with the ball and Jackson landed the resulting penalty.

Full back Jared Payne got Ulster’s second try on 58 minutes when he finished off a sweeping move involving Jackson and Luke Marshall which the out half converted.

Jackson added a added another penalty from in from of the posts on 71 minutes after the visitors failed to roll away from the ruck.

The out half sealed the victory empathic style with a third try in the final minute, he intercepted an Eion Reddan pass in his own 22 and wenbt the length of the pitch to go under the posts with Paul Marshall drop kicking the conversion, Ulster nearly snatched a bonus point try with the last play of the game but Darren Cave’s pass was slightly behind Rory Scholes and the ball went into touch.
