Ulster's Sean Reidy underlines importance of victory at Liberty Stadium

Ulster know a bonus point win against the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday will seal a top four finish in the Pro12.

If there’s any other outcome, Les Kiss’s side will have to rely other results elsewhere and backrow Sean Reidy feels Ulster must win the game before entertaining any notion of chasing a bonus point.

“We have talked about stretching the scoreline, trying to score as many as we can and keeping them to a minimum so that is the goal at the weekend,” he said.

“They have a class outfit and they did a good job on the Cardiff Blues on the weekend we know we have to match them physically and hopefully get the result.

“The bonus point is at the back of your mind but you just have to build on the basics and you don’t want to think too far ahead or you will just be chasing things and doing silly offloads and stuff.

“If you do the basics well then I’m sure the bonus point will come further down the track,” Reidy added.

“Maybe in the past we haven’t taken our chances and come the business end of the season when you have to take them or you won’t be playing next week, it’s a critical time of the year so every opportunity we get we have to fully grab it with two hands.”

The Kiwi has spent most of his Ulster career at openside flanker but enjoyed starting at No 8 in last Saturday's win over Leinster.

“It was good to play there and I will play where the team need me. The boys enjoyed it we played with a lot of confidence and it was a well-rounded performance and there is a bit of a buzz around the camp this week.

“Leinster have a world class backrow with a lot of international caps but our boys stepped up and performed, we carried well and I think we won the physical battle,” he added.

“We just focused on our own game and doing the basics well at the breakdown.”

Reidy, who could go head to head with British Lion Dan Lydiate, said of his opponent: “He is always a class player with or without the ball.

“In Europe and the Pro12 you are playing against world class players week in and week out so you just have to focus on your own game.”
