Ulster winger, Craig Gilroy, made a strong case for Ireland coach, Declan Kidney, to include him in his matchday squad against Argentina when he scored a hat-trick of tries in the 26-0 win over Fiji in Limerick last night.

Gilroy - famous for socring the first ever try at the Aviva Stadium - opened the scoring in a one-sided affair before adding two more in the second half.

Although the game was a non-cap international the experimental Irish XV impressed throughout, although Fiji did appear somewhat disinterested at times.

It was very much the Ulster show with Gilroy, who was named the RTE man of the match, scoring three ties while there one apiece for Darren Cave and Luke Marshall. Leinster’s Fergus McFadden weighed in with a brace and Sean Cronin added another.

The remainder of the points came from the boot of Ulster outhalf, Paddy Jackson.
