International Amy Davis is back in the Ulster fold

The Ulster Women’s squad has been named revealed in preparation for the 2012 Inter-provincial Championships being held next month.

The squad is made up of players from Cooke, Queen’s University, Belfast Harlequins, City of Derry, Enniskillen, Newry, Blackrock and Sligo. The squad will be led from the front by Stacey-Lea Kennedy from City of Derry, and backed up at Vice Captain by Grace Davitt from Cooke.

With the inclusion this season of Amy Davis who returns to Ulster colours after a few years away, the squad has strength in depth in all positions.

Experience will count for a lot this year, and with the International experience that comes with Davis, Kennedy, Davitt, Ashleigh Baxter and Nikki Caughey, hopefully Ulster can cause an upset along the way.

The squad is full of talented new players including Gemma McCutcheon, Jemma Jackson, Dani Boyd and Colette Broome have all impressed over the past few months Ulster Women have been able to work in partnership with Queen’s University for use of their state-of-the-art facilities. The facilities at Queen’s and those at Portadown Rugby Club, have provided the squad with a great venues to train and play.

Ulster’s opener is against Munster on Sunday December (1pm) at Queen’s Arena pitch, Malone Road, Belfast. Admission is free and all support would be appreciated by the team.

The Women are then on the road for the following two weekends, away to Leinster on December 8 at Ashbourne RFC (1.30) and to Connacht on the December 15 at The Sportsground, Galway (2.30).
