One of the popular events on the rugby calendar got underway on Friday night with the start of the 42nd Carrick Sevens at Carrickfergus RFC.
Irish President’s, won the Samurai Sportswear U19 competition.
On Friday, from noon, the Quigg Golden Open, is staged when clubs from Scotland, England and Ireland will compete.
The NGN 7s will be hoping to defend their title.
The NGN team will be supported by the Ulster Rugby squad, many of whom were close friends and team mates of Nevin Spence who died tragically in September 2012.
The fesitval of rugby continues on Sunday, again starting at noone with the Abbey Ladies and the Manvik Qualifying League competitions.
Queen’s ladies are seeking a hat-trick of successes while the men from CIYMS are looking to make it three in a row in the qualifying competition.
In addition this year a Ladies Development tournament involving Coleraine, Newry, Banbridge and Ballynahinch will take place for the first time.
There are all the usual side shows taking place, catering for all ages in what is a great event.
