Nick Williams has not recovered from a calf injury in time to take his place in the Ulster side to play Montpellier on Saturday..
Williams suffered the bang to his lower leg during last week’s 22-16 win over Leicester Tigers.
As predicted by the News Letter on Friday, Robbie Diack is promoted from the bench to blindside loose, with last week’s man of the ematch, Roger Wilson, moving to No 8. Lewis Stevenson comes on to the bench.
There is only one other change to the side from that which won the opening game in Pool Five last week.
As expected Ruan Pienaar will start at scrumhalf ahead of Paul Marshall.
All Black prop, John Afoa, is named as a substitute and is in line to make his first appearance of the season for Ulster having recovered from the calf injury that has kept him out since the summer.
