Sandra Whittle and Robert Cassells turn on style at Bannview opening

Sandra Whittle and Robert Cassells emerged triumphant in the inaugural bowls tournament hosted by Bannview Squash Club.

Armagh Zone Convener Flo McNally cut the ribbons to officially open the new bowls centre at 60 Portmore Street, Portadown, at the weekend.

To mark the occasion a ladies and gents competition was staged, sponsored by Ty-ROCK, with Cranagill player Whittle topping female section.

And, well-known player, Robert Cassells, from St Mark’s, Portadown, ran out the impressive in the men’s competition.

“It’s a great venue,” said Flo McNally.

“I was delighted to do the honours to launch the excellent venture. There were four mats operating: it was a great night.

“Hopefully, the bowls centre can go from strength to strength.”

Meanwhile, entries are now invited for an open pairs tournament will be held on Saturday, April 19.
