Snooker star Mark Allen in special pledge to brave Oscar Knox

GENEROUS: Mark Allen

GENEROUS: Mark Allen

  • by Gareth Fullerton

ANTRIM snooker star Mark Allen is preparing to dip into his pocket to help the Oscar Knox Appeal.

Allen has pledged 50 per cent of his prize winnings from this season’s Premier League to support Glengormley four-year-old Oscar who has High Risk Neuroblastoma – a rare children’s cancer which affects only one in every 100,000 children.

Allen raised awareness by supporting #teamoscar on Twitter before gaining permission from Matchroom and Sky Sports to wear the Team Oscar wristbands.

The World number nine has also recruited his fellow players in the league to join the appeal and gave a live interview on Sky Sports to millions of viewers where he pledged half his winnings from the group stages.

Should he win through to the semi-finals, Allen has additionally promised to donate all his group stage winnings to brave Oscar.

So far he has earned £6,000 from the Group stages.

Allen has one more match to play, against Judd Trump on November 8 at The Dome in Doncaster.
