Steven Kane will make his race debut with Team Bentley on Friday in The Gulf 12 Hour Race in Abu Dhabi.
Along with fellow team members Guy Smith and Andy Meyrick the new Bentley Continental GT will start from the second row of the grid after setting the fourth fastest time in qualifying.
The Bentley was half a second behind the pole setting Mercedes-Benz SLAMG shared by Bernd Schneider, Jereon Bleekemolen and Khaled Al Oubassi.
Brian Gush, the Motorsport Director for the new Bentley was happy with the qualifying time set and stated that this opening race was very much in the development process of the new car.
Had it not have been for traffic in the third qualifying session with Meyrick at the wheel, he set fifth fastest time while Kane set the second fastest time in the first qualifying session the Bentley might have won the pole position.
Ferraris set the second and third fastest times and today’s race will be made up by two six hour races, with a two hour and 25 minute break.
