Sycerika McMahon was in fantastic form on Friday as she set a new Irish record as she qualified for the 100m individual medley final at the European Short Course Championships in France.
The Portaferry swimmer, who won bronze in the 50m breaststroke on Thursday, finished fourth in her semi-final last night in a quick time of 1:01.24.
The talented McMahon had already broken Grainne Murphy’s previous Irish record in the heats with a quick time of 1:02.13.
After Friday night’s semi-final, the teenager qualfied seventh for Saturday’s final, against top quality opposition.
McMahon cut half a second off the Irish record in the 50m heats and then went quicker and quicker in the semi-finals and final.
She then clocked 30.34 in the final which was won by Petra Chocova in 30.02.
And McMahon also helped Ireland’s 4x50m freestyle relay team progress to Thursday evening’s final where they placed eighth.
She also won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke at the European Long Course Championships in Hungary in May.
