Sycerika McMahon was unable to secure a place in the semi-finals of the women’s 200m breaststroke at the European Championships in Berlin.
The Co Down teenager failed to progress from the heats after finishing in a time of 2:31.81 which meant she was placed seventh out of 10 swimmers.
The 19-year-old narrowly missed out on setting a new 200m individual medley personal best on Wednesday.
McMahon’s next event at the championships is her main event the 50m breaststroke which takes place on Saturday.
The Northern Irishwoman was 1.04 seconds outside a semi-final spot in Thursday’s event as she finished 21st overall while team-mate Fiona Doyle was a further .42 back in 23rd spot.
