Cycling road racers had to endure difficult conditions

Northern Ireland’s Lydia Boylan took 21st place in Sunday’s cycling road races on the final day of the Commonwealth Games.

Only 27 women’s riders made it to the finish line compared to 12 completing the men’s event later in the day.

Claire Oakley did not finish in the women’s race.

Sean Downey lasted the longest in the men’s race before pulling out late on.

Conor McConvey, Philip Lavery, Roger Aiken, Peter Hawkins and Fraser Duncan were unable to complete the men’s event.
