The Turkington brothers will be on track this weekend with Colin taking a break from his Touring Car duties and James returning to Fiesta racing.
Colin who currently leads the British Touring Car Championship for the Ebay Motors Team will be in action at Silverstone on Saturday at the wheel of a BMW CSL in a Classic race.
“It was great to be invited to drive this famous car it will be something of a change from competing in the British Touring Car Championship, I am really looking forward to it,” commented the former BTCC Champion.
The following weekend the summer break for the Touring Car drivers comes to an end as the British series resumes at Snetterton.
Meanwhile younger brother James will be back behind the wheel of his Ford Fiesta and at Kirkistown as the hotly contested championship resumes. James has not raced this season instead he has competed in a couple of rallies and in the two seasons which he raced at the County Down circuit he was never beaten.
“I know that this class of racing has become hugely popular in Ireland both at Kirkistown and at Mondello Park and at the County Kildare track it is not uncommon. I hope I am not too rusty,” commented James.
This season the Kirkistown based championship has been dominated by Andrew Blair and a great contest is on the cards between the pair.
The organisers the 500 MRCI are hoping that a number of drivers will come north to race on Saturday as they will have two races.
This low budget racing series has caught the attention of many well known drivers including rally champion Austin MacHale.
