Aspiring entrants for the Walled City Marathon in Derry on June 1st will have two attractive warm-up fixtures both using parts of the 26 miles course.

The SSE-Airtricity 10k and 10 miles are scheduled for Sunday 9th March and Sunday 27th April. Both will start and finish at the iconic Ebrington Square.

The 10k course will take in the Waterside Greenway, Peace Bridge, Foyle Greenway and Bay Road Park.

The 10 miler will extend to cover the Foyle Bridge plus a loop out and back on Foyle Road before returning via the Peace Bridge to the finish at Ebrington.

Any athletes entering for both races on Sunday 9th March will be guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt.

The Walled City Marathon was a key event in the City of Culture celebrations. Former Olympian Tommy Hughes bridged a gap of 27 years to win from Greg Roberts and Pauric McKinney.

There was a massive field with almost 1300 finishers.

Pre entries can be sent to info@thewalledcitymarathon.com
