Co Down actor Jamie Dornan has reportedly landed one of the biggest film roles around- as the infamous Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades series.
The model-turned actor, whose Twitter account proudly states that he was “Born, bred, and buttered in Holywood, County Down”, is understood to have been given the role after fellow actor Charlie Hunnam quit earlier this month.
Dornan, who has starred in Belfast-based television series The Fall as well as ABC show Once Upon a Time, will be the on-screen lover of Dakota Fanning who plays Anastasia Steele in the adaption of the best seller book series.
Dornan’s The Fall co-star and ex-Hollyoaks actress Bronagh Waugh tweeted her reaction to the news: “Love you @JamieDornan1 very very proud of you you wonderful man you!!! #FiftyShadesofGrey #sexymurderoushusband #imabornagainchristian xxx”.
The movie is due to hit cinemas in August next year.
The books, written by EL James who is married to Newry writer Niall Leonard, sold more copies faster than any other author in history, according to Forbes magazine.
Between June last year and this year Ms James made an estimated $95 million.
