Television’s most famous presenting duo dropped into one of Belfast’s oldest pubs on Friday for a quick pint - and a spot of filming.

Ant and Dec are in the city to film auditions for Britain’s Got Talent Saturday.

Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who has family links to Co Londonderry, drew quite a lot of attention during their one-hour stay at the pub in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, as they filmed some opening scenes for the talent show.

After tweeting of their arrival on Friday morning, BGT judge Alesha Dixon asked if it was very cold, to which they replied: “Nah, it’s lovely! D (it is quite cold!) Looking forward to seeing u. X”

Ms Dixon, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and David Walliams will join the presenters for this series’ first set of auditions this weekend.

Bar worker Emma Moran was told there would be something happening in work on Friday, but wasn’t sure what until she turned up to find An and Dec in the bar enjoying a pint.

“It was a really nice surprise on a Friday morning,” said the 24 year-old, adding that the pair were just as she had expected from television.

“They were so friendly and they had time for everyone. I got my picture with them and the were happy to pose with many of the other members of staff.”

The Queen’s Masters student from Belfast admitted she is a big fan of the pair, and was one a quite a large female following trying to catch a glimpse of the Geordie due.

“I love I’m a Celeb and Britain’s Got Talent. I love them as presenters and am happy to say in real life there are just two really nice guys.”

Another staff member said the bar was privileged to host them, but added jokingly, “Sure where else would they have gone?”

The pair enjoyed a pint of Guinness and asked about the whiskeys available in the bar.
