DJ Turned Therapist To Deliver Electronic Dance Event With A Difference At Sunflowerfest

A DJ turned complementary health therapist is set to merge both herpassions in an attempt to deliver a 'healing' electronic dance event at this year's Sunflowerfest.

Sound Therapist Tessa Greer, will return to the stage as DJ Troya, in an Electronic Sound Bath this weekend.

Having been well known on the nightlife circuit Tessa took a break from DJ’ing to pursue a career as a sound therapist.

However, recently the producer and complementary therapist decided to take her passions and merge them.

On August 6 she will deliver an hour long invigorating session of sound therapy - suited to fans of dance and electronic music.

Better known to dance music fans as DJ Troya, Tessa’s electronic set will showcase sounds, created to work with the body’s energy centres (The Chakra’s), which she has specifically produced for the Electronic Sound Bath.

She said: “This sound bath is more dance orientated than the traditional relaxation sound baths, and it’s an opportunity for me to deliver sound therapy to fans of electronic music.

“Sound Therapy, or Sound Healing, works with vibrations and frequencies, which can be created by instruments, music and the voice, as well as other sources. The way these vibrations and frequencies interact with the vibrations of our own bodies, help bring balance to the individual experiencing them.

“During a traditional Sound Bath, which you can also experience at Sunflowerfest, various instruments, such as Tibetan Singing Bowls, gongs, drums and chimes create an environment of different sounds and vibrations, used to inspire meditations and enhance relaxation.

“The Electronic Sound Bath allows me to combine my recorded sounds from these traditional instruments, with other electronic sounds and bring sound healing into another arena.”

Now in its 7th year, Sunflowerfest is a three-day musical extravaganza with something to suit everyone’s taste, highlighting local talent, crafts and complementary therapies.

Running from August 5-7 the annual festival will see music acts such as The Strypes, Le Galaxie, Malojian and Trucker Diablo as well as Amanda St John, former Stiff Little Finger Henry Cluney and comedy harpist Ursula Burns.
