Four hundred thousand people will see Garth Brooks make history live in Dublin later this year after a fifth consecutive concert date sold out on Thursday.

A surprise fifth date was announced after the fourth gig sold out in quickly. The fifth date, which went on sale immediately, then sold out by 1pm.

It will be the first time an artist will play five nights in a row at the GAA stadium.

Fans were delighted to get a second chance at tickets after the first three dates sold out in a record 90 minutes.

Some dedicated supporters had camped out for days before the tickets were available.

Speaking earlier this week the singer, who took a lengthy break from music after a hugely successful career, said he was looking forward to the gigs but added that part of him was “scared to death”.
