Union flag-themed umbrellas came in handy for the four Britain’s Got Talent judges as they arrived at the Waterfront Hall for their first round of auditions on Saturday.
The 2014 show kicked off in Belfast, with local talent hopefuls keen to impress Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
Despite the rain, which threatened to dampen the stars’ red carpet arrivals, Mr Cowell saw fit to wear sunglasses as he greeted fans who lined out to welcome the judges to the city.
Show hosts Ant and Dec arrived on Friday and stopped by the Duke of York Bar for a quick pint and to film some opening scenes for the show.
Last year Northern Ireland saw BGT success in the form of Londonderry’s Jordan O’Keefe.
Singer Ed Sheeran admired his performances so much he even did an impromptu duet with him backstage at the show.
The producers for the 2014 show already travelled to Belfast in November last year for auditions, with the successful acts then performing in front of the judges on Saturday.
The winner of the television talent show receives a cash prize and a spot in the line-up at The Royal Variety Performance 2014.
Last year Attraction, a shadow dance act from Hungary, took first place.
