Rapper Professor Green - husband of Made in Chelsea’s glamour girl Millie Mackintosh - and British R&B singer/songwriter and producer MNEK (real name Uzoechi Emenike), have both been confirmed as support acts for the much anticipated MTV Crashes Derry-Londonderry gig at Ebrington Square on September 19.

These are the first two acts to be confirmed with many more announcements yet to come and as with almost all MTV concerts, the biggest names and coolest contemporary acts are likely to be joining this famous duo on the list.

Professor, or ‘Pro’ Green, is best known for hits like I Need You Tonight featuring Ed Drewett, Just Be Good to Green (a collaboration with agente provocatrice of the pop world, Lily Allen) and rap-filled angsty-pop albums Alive Till I’m Dead (2010), which featured guest vocals from Allen, Emeli Sande, Fink, Labrinth, Example and The Streets, plus 2011’s release At Your Inconvenience.

Rapper, songwriter, producer and now fashion designer Professor Green is soon to release his third studio album ‘Growing Up In Public’. The album will feature collaborations from artists including Rizzle Kicks, Ed Sheeran and Tori Kelly.

“I am just excited to get out on that stage,” said Green of the forthcoming gig. “I love performing, that’s what it’s all about for me, so I’m looking forward to sharing my tracks with this Derry audience and seeing their reaction at MTV Crashes!’

Meanwhile, MNEK is a stellar music producer as well as a singer/songwriter in his own right, having scored a No 4 smash with Gorgon City’s hugely acclaimed hit Ready For Your Love. The Grammy-nominated MNEK lives in London and is of Nigerian extraction. He recently remixed music for the so hot right now Tinie Tempah and the iconic Duran Duran, plus he has worked with Rudimental, Bastille and former X-Factor contestant Olly Murs (now a very pretty pop star in his own right, of course).

MNEK said: “I think it’s going to be a good one and hopefully we will well and truly crash it!”

It is expected that MTV Crashes Derry will draw thousands to Ebrington Square on September 19.

The first 10,000 tickets for the event sold out in 40 seconds when they were released earlier in this month.

MTV Crashes Derry–Londonderry is being held in collaboration with Derry City Council with support from Ilex and NITB.

The concert will be broadcast across MTV’s UK music TV channels and then across its European channels in October.

Mayor of Derry, councillor Brenda Stevenson, said she was hugely excited that Professor Green and MNEK have been confirmed as support acts for MTV Crashes Derry~Londonderry.

“This is a huge coup for the city and fantastic news for popular music fans across the city and region who are hugely excited about attending a weekend of fantastic music celebration at Ebrington.

“We are delighted to be working with MTV to announce additional acts in the coming weeks.”
