An ambitious export strategy has been highlighted as one of the keys to a major deal in Kuwait won by Cookstown based materials handling specialist CDE Global.

The deal was confirmed by Enterprise Minister Jonathan Bell, during a visit to the Kuwaiti firm as pat of a trade mission to the area.

CDE is to ship its M4500 modular sand washing plant to Associated Construction Company (ASCO), a sector in which is is now a world leader.

“In 2014, the company announced a £3 million investment to roll out an ambitious export strategy with the support of Invest Northern Ireland and during this visit I have seen first-hand the results of this strategy,” said Mr Bell.

“CDE Global has also recently been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious Bauma 2016 Innovation Award in Munich in April. I wish them the best of luck and hope they bring back another award that Northern Ireland can be proud of.”

Invest Northern Ireland has provided the business with in-market support which included supporting it with introductions across the region and providing access to a wide range of research and analysis on the cement and concrete industry.

“In 2014/15 machinery and transport equipment accounted for 80% of all exports to the UAE and were worth £42.4m. My visit here is testament to the fact that Northern Ireland has the drive and the means to expand its business activities throughout the globe and increase exports in this sector.”

Ruchin Garg, CDE Global business development manager for the Middle East, led the visit around the ASCO site. He added: “The CDE M-Series is a very flexible offering of feeding, screening, sand washing and stockpiling equipment to process a range of materials including sand and gravel, crushed rock, scalpings and mineral ores like iron ore.

“In the Middle East’s growing construction sector, our integrated mobile washing products, the most advanced available in the region, have become a solution of choice for customers wishing to gain a competitive edge through enhanced product quality and operational efficiencies.

“There is also significant scope to develop our operations in the construction and demolition waste recycling sector in this market.

“ASCO’s renewed trust in our products and customer service is yet another testament to the un-matched reputation for quality and professionalism CDE Global enjoys all over the world.”
