Detectives investigating a report of an assault on a man in the Main Street area of Dundrum on Saturday, March 25, have charged a 29-year-old man with grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He is expected to appear before Downpatrick Magistrates Court on Monday, March 27.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
