Robber threatened staff with syringe containing blood

Police are investigating the incident at a shop in west Belfast and have appealed for information.

At around 6pm a man wearing a mask entered the Cavendish Street store and demanded money from the till.

When the employee refused, the man produced a syringe, which appeared to contain blood, and threatened the employee with it. He then made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes.

The robber is described as in his 20s, around 5ft 6”, blue eyes, blonde hair, slim build, wearing a dark coloured wind breaker, grey tracksuit bottoms and glasses.

Any witnesses to the robbery or anyone who saw a male matching the description should contact police on 101, quoting reference 1601 23/08/20.
