Kane awarded £29m MEP contract at Lewisham Gateway Phase 2

Banbridge contractor Kane has secured a £29 million design and build contract with Balfour Beatty to deliver the MEP installation at Lewisham Gateway Phase 2.

The 26-month contract consists of the design and construction of 649 residential units contained within four blocks ranging in height from 11 to 30 stories.

The dwellings will facilitate 530 residential apartments with the remaining 119 being utilised for Co-Living. The project also incorporates retail units including food and beverage fitted to shell and core, a shell finished space for a cinema, the construction and fit out of a Co-Living Facility, co-working building with a Category A Fit Out, gym space fitted to shell and core and a below Ground Energy Centre.

Kane will deliver efficient offsite construction solutions by incorporating prefabricated Utility Pods, in each residential unit. Additionally, the Energy Centre will be prefabricated off site, along with corridor service modules containing all landlord Low Temperature Hot Water, Boosted Cold Water and Sprinkler Pipework, and Electrical Containment. All offsite construction solutions will be designed and manufactured at Kane’s prefabrication facility in Northern Ireland by their specialist in-house teams.

Further works include the full Public Health installation throughout the project consisting of all above ground foul and rainwater pipework and domestic cold-water system, served by cold-water storage plantrooms. All specialist systems, inclusive of Commercial Sprinkler System, Residential Sprinkler Systems, Dry and Wet Risers, Smoke and Environmental Ventilation Systems, BMS, Access Control, Fire Alarm, CCTV, PV systems and Electric Vehicle car charging systems will be designed, supplied, and installed as part of Kane’s scope of works.
